Choose proportionate clothing. There are two things that should be avoided if you find yourself shopping in the petite section. These two pieces of clothing that should be avoided are cropped pants and long jackets. Both of these pieces of clothing tend to cut the body in half and reduce the appearance of height.
If you are petite and trying to choose a skirt, choose skirts that fall above the knee, rather than below the knee to ensure that you are not cutting off the body. On the other hand, when choosing pants that are straight legged and reach the bottom of the shoe to take advantage of all of the height that can be added through dressing this way.
